Selma Lagerlöf

Selma Lagerlöf (Nov. 20, 1858 – March 16, 1940)

A Swedish author, the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. Most widely known for her children’s book “The Wonderful Adventures of Nils”. She gave the opening address at the International Suffrage Congress in Stockholm in June 1911, as well as at the victory party of the Swedish suffrage movement, in May 1919, after women were finallygranted the right to vote.
