September 16 was designated by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. Scientists estimate that for every one percent decrease in ozone, there could be a 4-6% increase in skin cancers. In Australia, melanoma is most common in women aged 17-33 years, and in the US Melanoma is the second most common cancer in women aged 20-29.
