Astrid Lindgren (Nov. 14, 1907 – Jan. 28, 2002)
A Swedish fiction and screenplays writer. She is best known for her children’s book series, famous of all is “Pippi Longstocking”. Lindgren has sold roughly 144 million books worldwide. She is currently the world’s 18th most translated author and the third most translated children’s books author, after Andersen and the Grimm brothers. Lindgren was also known for her support in children’s right and animal rights and for her opposition to corporal punishment.
